A Beauti-ful(l) love story

Studying for my fashion exams, I’m trying to find some time for this blog!

It’s wednesday today, so there should be a particular post about movies. Well, this time the movie is The Beauty and the Beast. Yes, it’s only a cartoon, but I think it’s the best cartoon ever, and it was made in 1991, like me! However, I would like to tell you about the musical that’s permorming in Italy (Rome this year!), that I’ve seen last Sunday at Brancaccio’s Theatre. Gourgeous. It’s a breathtaking performance, and you would like to cry for all the two hours. Indeed I think it’s the most romantic drama ever, and actors did their best to let us dream, and also think, in this beauti-ful(l) rapresentation, rich in sweetness, special effects, but also values.

Maybe almost everybody know the history of Belle and her adventures in the magic castle of the Beast, but not everyone knows that this fairy tale, written many times in diffents countries, has its birth with the Apuleio’s Amore e Psiche (do you know, Canova’s best work…), a love story about metamorphosis, magic and beauty.

So, during the musical made of Alan Menken’ Oscar’s soundrack, you can dream with Belle, her pure love agains the Beast’s beastly love, that first is material (maybe sexual instinct), but then It will be tranformed in true love, and that’s the love that make Belle think that there’s something else over the awful face of the Beast. She taught him to love, he gave her his heart, his castle, his beauty and his love, too!

Oooh, love is in the air…

God save the women

At times, as in these days, I wonder me on our role, on our being to the world, on our being women.

I look back, in our history, and I see hundreds of women that they have fought and they have sacrificed their life in name of the woman, of the equal opportunities between man and woman. They have fought for changing their position of women remained too for a long time in the shade, overpowered by their patriarchal and sexist families, from their duties without rights, from the abuses, from the false beliefs of a mentality bigot that, to justify the animal instincts of the male, the woman assimilated to the demon, instead that to the direct daughter of Maria. But these ancestresses of ours, then, in the XIX century, thanks to the education, they finally wake up by the hypnosis that had possessed them from the beginning of the times. And they have understood that, in how much human beings that are born, grow, they breathe, they live and they die to the peer of the men, they don't have neither more neither less rights than them.

The problem is that today we seem to forget us of all the struggles and the following, innumerable conquests that these women have gotten for us. We continue to it stuffed to treat from minority, but above all we continue to be used as objects, only because we are us to allow it. We are to dress you unstick us to get the promotion from the head, we are who sell us in exchange for money, only and only of money, that the political scandals create, that we allow our men to betray their women with some lovers, because it is known, the man from the lover wants only a thing, and us, as lovers give it. And these scandals would not exist if we were to the level of the men, if we didn't make us treat from beasts, if we didn't sell us to gratify the men. The woman stays an accessory of the man however. If so it was not, the escorts would not exist.

And where are those revolutions of those women? They disappear, they don't exist anymore. We complain about there so much of the men and of their instincts, but we are us to give him rope, and it will be so always if we don't stitch there and the struggles that the suffragettes have begun continue.

We are special beings us, women, and the men must understand it. Because life would not exist without us, sweetness would not exist, neither the love, neither the beauty. All values that support and move the world.
Long life to us!

Don’t forget the crystal shoe

As a fashion blogger, I have to say something about this year’s Golden Globes.

Globes excluded, I want to point your attention on the clothes of the stars.

And star is the exact word to describe Olivia Wilde’ ball gown by Marchesa, that make you feel like being in a dream…

And now, a pale pink dress parade, for a cotton candy world! Thank you to our madames, they still know how to be elegant but simply, to feel like modern princesses, and then every dream will come true!

So, Leighton Meester in Burberry Porsum, so chic and…hot….wow, that’s a breathtaking slit!

63073615

Megan Fox, with a very particular sleevless corset, she’s in Armani privè, too.

63076191

Sandra Bullock and her fashionable one shoulder gown, sooo sparkling, she’s like a grecian diva, wonderful…

63073979 And last, but not least, the best of all. She’s the best dramatic actress (for Black swan), the most beautiful, and with the best gown by Victor & Rolf, the best elegant but the simplest one. (PS.she’s pregnant, of course!).

Sweet dreams, with this gorgeous gowns, and remember that the magic will finish at midnight!

A million girls would kill fot this job…

Well, from this wednesday I’ll do the wednesday’s movie post one every two weeks because I’m having so much to study, because of the semi-annual exams! Ideed, I have to work hard if I want to find my place in the fashion system, one day!

However, this week’s movie is…The Devil wears Prada, for us, fashionistas, it has became a sort of Bible.

This movie is rich of everything about fashion magazines. Leaving apart all the story about the similarity with Vogue America and her Anna Wintour, it’s a cauldron of fashion brands, fashion people, and a good documentary to know how’s the work in a fashion magazine.

My favourite character is –with no doubt- Nigel (Stanley Tucci). He’s fantastic, so stilish and elegant, so strong, but sweet at the same time!

It seems that the best of the movie are clothes. Indeed the costume designer is Patricia Field, the same of Sex and the City. Everyone wears very special and expensive stuff: Chanel, Donna Karan, Vivienne Westwood, D&G, and Prada shoes, of course!

Many are the main scene, but the most hilarious (but extremely true, because based on a real fashion’s theory –the Trickle down) is the one of the choice of the clothes for the shoot, when Andy smiled seeing two belts apparently eguals, but of two differents gradients, and Miranda shows her all the fashion system of the trickle.

An how to forget the Paris Fashion Week?! A worldwide event that every of us dream (and they know it!).

Well, what can I say? All the movie is an open book to this faboulous world, is a picture in that there’s all the fashion magazine’s system and the deep mean of that.

Don't you know that you are working at the place that published some of the greatest artists of the century? Halston, Lagerfeld, de la Renta. And what they did, what they created was greater than art because you live your life in it.

C’est bizarre!

I heard that funny thing this evening at the newscast and I had to tell you what happened this afternoon in London and some cities around the world.

Well, today’s the No Trousers Tube Ride Day: around 100 people travelled on the Bakerloo Line from Charing Cross to Paddington and back…without trousers, wearing only panties. It should seem something normal and usual to other passengers, indeed this 100 people were part of an organised affair and they were instructed to pretend they didn’t know each other and not to talk to other passengers, thay also had to say that they had forgotten their trousers accidentally.

What a faboulous thing! The best is that it was done to promote more silliness in the world and give people something to laugh at.

I think that only our british friends could do something like that….très bizarre!

Thank you so much, because there’s still someone who knows how to laugh and make people laugh in this society now sad and mechanics,so tied to appear, to show himself for what we are not…

Adieu

Speaking of fashion, this week I had to sacrifice the wednesday movies’ theme to tell you something about a model.

Probably you have heard about her, Isabelle Caro.

I know it’s an annoying argument, over discussed, but I have to do my part, as everyone. Our lives are made also of these arguments, not only of happy ones, as we want there to be only beautiful moments.

Well, Miss Caro was born in 1982 and since she was 13th she suffered from anorexia nervosa, caused by what she told ‘a trumbled childhood’. She also said that she started to slim down drastically when a fashion stylist told her that she had to loose 10 kilos. And she did it, and came to other modeling agencies and, although she was 40 kilos weight, nobody was hit by her exagerated skinnes, because they’re accustomed to see girls such skinny.

She was 30 kilos when she posed for Oliviero Toscani for a photo anti-anorexia for an italian brand. Isabelle decided to do this shoot beacuse she wanted to let people see what is anorexia really, how will you become if you’re anorexic, she fighted, she was in coma, but she re-started to eat.

Caro tryied to pass a law in Parliament saying that you can't model if you're too skinny, also if her anorexia was caused not only by fashion, but mainly by her family troubles.

Well, that’s another appeal to the entire world to help everybody who suffers of this terrible disease, not only physical, but psycological!

Everyone should feel beatiful in his body, fat, thin, tall, small, blonde hair, big nose: is our diversity to make us beautiful!

PS. Isabelle died the 17th november 2010…

A new start, a new life!

As every year, I would like to promise to myself that this year will be different.

But it could be a very ridicoulous thing to say. In fact every new year is different, every new year we’re older and every new year must be special.

However, I wanna say you that this year I’ll do my best:

  • I wanna travel, but more than last year ( I went in Liguria and in Amsterdam)
  • I wanna spend money and buy only for special things
  • I wanna be a very good friend
  • I wanna find my prince
  • I wanna be elegant, every day, for every occasion

Well, these are my intentions for the new year for now…I’ll update you if I wanna add something!

So I wish you a sparkling 2011, rich in happyness, smiles, sweetness and love!

xoxo,

A.
