Change!

What I like about fashion in CHANGE. Change means also that what we do today might be wothless tomorrow, but we have to accept that because we are in fashion. There’s nothing safe forever in fashion…fashion is a train that waits for nobody. Get on it, or it’s gone.

Karl Lagerfeld

I think that this is one of the true definitions of fashion. Indeed the roots of the word ‘fashion’, mode (française), mean change, rhythm, the constant rate of change. Be fashion means live our present time, live the change. And change is to be alive, and risk. But change is part of us, of our history since the beginning of time, because if man had not threathened to change, would not have discovered anything, technology does not exist. If a woman, one day, had not put pants on, would never have started the revolution that brought the woman to hold the same roles of men. Fashion goes hand in hand with the history: both, history and fashion go forward with CHANGE.

Paris…en Italie!

I’m sorry for not being here writing for so much long. But I’d like to re-start to talk to the world about fashion. For myself, first of all!

And I’d also like to re-start from me, I wanna try to make my life better, taking more time, more moments for myself, taking care of me, for being happy, for appreciate all the little things of everyday. I hope I’ll do my best for do that, indeed I always say I’ll change in better, but every time it’s hard to realize what I have in mind, obviously! And now, thanks to the Royal love story that came true right today, everyone feels like being in a fairy tale where everything’s perfect, and where the prince charmin is real and marry the princess!

Now, There are some photos of a French fair that is going around Italy with tipical products, that I visited this week in Fermo (a city near mine).

Some history and fashion

Women did not have the right to own anything except their wardrobes, wich is the reason women became so interested in clothes.

This line is about the social (and fashion) situation of women in the late nineteenth century, when women had to submit and obey their husbands, who’s the dominant figure in the society. In one hundred years the world changed a lot, thanks to all the women that fought with their associations in the name of more rights and liberty, also if we’re not free at all. However, still now, fashion is maybe the only thing that belongs to us. are women that move and feed the fashion world, dealing with the family through shopping. and maybe that's why shopping is the only thing that belongs to us, it’s also what we do best, and despite this, we’re never bored. Indeed, shopping is one of the few things that can make us truly happy, that gives us that rush of adrenaline that we need in the darkest moments.

Thanks to all the women, thanks to those who have believed and believe in us, and thanks to fashion that makes us feel alive, living for ourselves, not to gratify men.

God save the women

At times, as in these days, I wonder me on our role, on our being to the world, on our being women.

I look back, in our history, and I see hundreds of women that they have fought and they have sacrificed their life in name of the woman, of the equal opportunities between man and woman. They have fought for changing their position of women remained too for a long time in the shade, overpowered by their patriarchal and sexist families, from their duties without rights, from the abuses, from the false beliefs of a mentality bigot that, to justify the animal instincts of the male, the woman assimilated to the demon, instead that to the direct daughter of Maria. But these ancestresses of ours, then, in the XIX century, thanks to the education, they finally wake up by the hypnosis that had possessed them from the beginning of the times. And they have understood that, in how much human beings that are born, grow, they breathe, they live and they die to the peer of the men, they don't have neither more neither less rights than them.

The problem is that today we seem to forget us of all the struggles and the following, innumerable conquests that these women have gotten for us. We continue to it stuffed to treat from minority, but above all we continue to be used as objects, only because we are us to allow it. We are to dress you unstick us to get the promotion from the head, we are who sell us in exchange for money, only and only of money, that the political scandals create, that we allow our men to betray their women with some lovers, because it is known, the man from the lover wants only a thing, and us, as lovers give it. And these scandals would not exist if we were to the level of the men, if we didn't make us treat from beasts, if we didn't sell us to gratify the men. The woman stays an accessory of the man however. If so it was not, the escorts would not exist.

And where are those revolutions of those women? They disappear, they don't exist anymore. We complain about there so much of the men and of their instincts, but we are us to give him rope, and it will be so always if we don't stitch there and the struggles that the suffragettes have begun continue.

We are special beings us, women, and the men must understand it. Because life would not exist without us, sweetness would not exist, neither the love, neither the beauty. All values that support and move the world.
Long life to us!

She wants to make the difference

Another wednesday, another movie.
It's Mona Lisa Smile Time, one of my favourite's movies.
A full-length movie, filled with everything from fashion, described simply perfect. We're between 1953 and 1954, one would think that the designers have taken up this film for fashion shows of this winter.
Long skirts, cardigans, starched shirts, hats, veils, red lipstick and strings of pearls.
Everything is so incredibly perfect.
Fashion has certainly a very important role in this movie, since that enriches every scene, every dialogue, debate, romantic moment are highlighted by the captivating beauty of the clothes that we dream today, because is tha peace and prosperity tipical of 50s that we dream today, in this period of crisis. And are these elements that tell the story, as well as to issues related to the irreversible change of that decade: contraception, divorce, free love, women's empowerment, new music, rock 'n'roll, unconventionality, which are opposed to the traditional, bourgeois values, the disparity between the sexes, the division of roles, pairs that divide people, but all of these things make you fall in love with that class of art of the female Wellesley College!
Such an amazing movie that went deep inside women souls searching for reasons why us, complete, wonderful and capable creatures are voluntarily lowering our own expectations from life when we literally have everything to open new worlds to the world we live in.

Enjoy, and fallow my advice!

My parents say my future is right on the horizon.
- Tell them the horizon is an imaginary line that recedes as you approach it.

Look beyond the paint. Let us try to open our minds to a new idea.

My teacher, Katherine Watson, lived by her own definition, and would not compromise that. Not even for Wellesley. I dedicate this, my last editorial, to an extraordinary woman who lived by example and compelled us all to see the world through new eyes. By the time you read this, she'll be sailing to Europe, where I know she'll find new walls to break down and new ideas to replace them with. I've heard her called a quitter for leaving, an aimless wanderer. But not all who wander are aimless. Especially not those who seek truth beyond tradition; beyond definition; beyond the image.
